Face lifting or rhytidoplasty is a form of cosmetic surgery designed to eliminate as far as possible signs of aging such as wrinkles, pouches under the chin and eyes and sagging tissue generally. The main procedure involves tightening the skin after the surplus has been removed. The resulting scars are usually hidden in the hair and behind ears. Those directly in front of the ears are visible only under very close scrutiny.
