Are you a procrastinator? If you often put off jobs, avoid situations you can’t handle or have trouble taking decisions. Here are some tips:

Set realistic goals

This makes you feel that you have achieved something.

Don’t wait for motivation

It will come once you have begun the work.

Break down the task

If you are overwhelmed at the prospect of a seemingly daunting task, break it down into smaller ones and keep a master list.

Build up momentum

Tell yourself that you will work on the project for 5 minutes. At the end of that time, ask yourself 5-10 minutes. However, do set a limit to your work day.

Don’t get distracted

Try to anticipate your family’s needs before you sit down. Ask friends to phone before dropping in. Tell your family not to disturb you when you are at your desk. Put the phone on the answering machine mode.
